my tribute to my mum

Everything I am or hope to be I owe to my mother.  Abraham Lincoln.

While unconventional to say the least, my mother has been one of the greatest gifts I could have ever hoped for.  I am reminded of my mother's strong will, her festiveness, and her passionate opinions. I learn to be fearless from her, trust my heart and always give everything 150%.

A few years ago she wrote me a heartfelt letter when I was in the 8th grade of life lessons- these are a few of my favorites. (well really all of them are my favorites but some I selfishly want to keep for myself.)  I go back to this letter A LOT.  It gives me perspective and fills up my tank when it is empty.

"My wish for you is to recognize and acknowledge who you are at your best.

Never forget what really matters.

There are often people nearby that want to pull you down. Don't let them.

In your simplest self you will be clear, open and able, you need not prove yourself our outshine anyone.

Stand on you own two feet.

Act sweet and mushy at times.

Be willing to fail at times for the privilege of trying.

Never believe that any challenge is too steep.

Be original.

Change is good.

Accomplish the impossible.

Go around obstacles.

Open doors.

Trust yourself.

Never grow up."

These guidelines have helped me plot my own destiny.  Flowers, and necklaces are never enough for a woman who has selfishly given everything so that I could have so much and so many opportunities.

ALL MY LOVE- TO MY MUM AND TO ALL THE MUM'S.
