I don't care ​what your field of study is design is a UNIVERSAL thing. One through practice can learn how to do anything. It is human nature the notion of repetitive learning. But often it is the eye of the designer the gut feeling deep inside the pit of their gut that pulls them to make design decisions. It is that artful moment that is organic and is difficult to explain.
